My next opponent looks to be from Thailand with 400 or so games in a 3 months period and steady improvement up the ranks
So looks new and not a dropper. Had decent defence (considering the inadequate threat I posed that's not so hard). Game
Opening
I received White and my oppo went for 3-4 alternate so I took the standard double star. Rather than enclose oppo approached my 33 so I kicked one side and extended then went for a large knight (not sure about this. Potential is to the left and an opposing extension is sitting there now) Once black large knighted a 3-4 I approached they kicked and I happily extended back to make a loose moyo which was broadly pleasing. AI has us equally with white borderline ahead .
Moving to middle game and my standard over caution allowed black to take a 5.8 point lead here around move 66
White retained a small lead though, around move 115 he had a chance to swing that back to a 2.5 black lead by pushing a bottom edge along with the associated weaknesses. I managed to seal and launch some unsuccessful joint attacks.
At move 167 a 33 invasion was launched but since I thought I had all escape routes blocked I decided to try to kill. I succeeded but did not, as ever, play optimally.
Another invasion was the launched on the left. This has little chance of success I think? AI was of such an opinion that once the group was surrounded it left it alone almost 4-5 moves and only started poking eyes then the second would have occurred. I had no confidence with that so poked early
This is how far the AI would push it
So that's what….5 stones played with only 1 white in response up till this point. What I had not noticed was that
as 200 (A) has support BOTH sides if black blocked then white moves the other direction and cannot be captured so that
was no eye at all.
End result win +7.2 so on a Komi of 7.5 I needed .3 of the Komi to win.
