Suzukawa Natsumi - Team Nagoya

The next member of Nagoya is new to the league this year and is relatively new 1 Dan Suzukawa Natsumi (鈴川 七海 ). Born 18th July 2003 she is 22 now and Professional at 21 so newly promoted she has also only won 5 out of 19 games in her first year as a Professional and is the lowest ELO rated player in the league.

The coach must see some latent potential in her though a lot of Professionals have bad first years then start excelling when their nerves about playing these games start to reside.

Her play style is what little records we have seems to show someone who veers away from AI openings and thus plays traditionally. She also appears somewhat cautious often securing shape and positions before counterattacking. Her Yose is good but she is often behind at that point so it doesn't help.

She also appears to have some difficulties with close contact fights which might indicate the reason for the caution in securing positions as the wilder style of play has burnt her in the past.

ELO wise she is the lowest ranked player in the tourney with an ELO of 2547 and a world rating currently of being the #861st best player in the world.

The chart shows this run of bad luck. I suspect, obviously could be wrong, that either she is a player for the reserve slot and also that the coach see's some latent strength.

Here is her fluff piece. She seems enamoured of using a timing clock for games and also for practices and Go problems which is an interesting way to improve performance under stress.
